Diva at work

Description

Flamingos are natures divas with their gorgeous pink feathers. But did you know that they have to work at maintaining the intensity of the colour? It comes from the algae and crustaceans they eat which are rich in carotenoids. These are loaded with red, orange and yellow pigments which the bird metabolize and gives them their colour. But then they have to clean the individual feathers to keep their plumage looking it’s best. That’s what this painting celebrates, self-care.  We all need the reward ourselves with that so this stands as a gentle reminder.

The tropical turquoise waters behind the Flamingo is peppered with iridescent blues which add extra shine to the finish. And the bird’s eye is gold, giving it a reflective element.

The painting has a satin varnish coating on it to accentuate the colours and protect the picture. It will be supplied without the acrylic glass window on it as displaying it bare allows the metallic paint elements to reflect more, giving more intensity and depth. However, the acrylic glass window is tucked between the painting and the back board so if you want it, it’s available. It has a layer of plastic on both sides which will need to be peeled off before display.
